Go First's resolution professional, who conducts the insolvency process, and Jindal Power did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment. However, the government amended its insolvency law earlier this month to exclude leased aircraft from assets that can be frozen, to bring India's bankruptcy laws into line with a treaty protecting the rights of foreign lessors. The carbon credits will be traded on the proposed carbon market provided under a legislation cleared by the Indian Parliament in December last year. India's rate of emissions intensity - the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions emitted for every unit increase of gross domestic product (GDP) - fell by 33% from 2005 to 2019, officials privy to the preparations of the Third National Communication (TNC) report said. India's average rate of reduction in emissions increased to 3% annually in the period 2016-2019, from just about 1.5% in the period 2014-2016. The progress made on reducing emissions intensity should help India avert pressure by developed nations to stop using coal, the second official said. Recently, India has also been trying to promote green hydrogen, manufactured by splitting water molecules using renewable energy.

BYD executives told Megha Engineering last week that the battery and EV maker wanted to drop pursuit of the investment, according to the two people with knowledge of that exchange. BYD, China's largest EV maker, declined to comment on the status of its investment proposal and whether it would pull the plan to produce electric cars in India. Megha Engineering did not respond to request to comment. A final decision on whether to approve BYD's investment proposal would be taken by Indian ministries of trade and heavy industries. In 2013 it started building electric buses in India with Megha Engineering, under a joint venture company called Olectra Greentech (OLEC.NS).

GOA, July 22 (Reuters) - The International Energy Agency (IEA) will revise its global oil demand growth projections based on the economic growth prospects of China and some other countries, its executive director Fatih Barol said on Saturday. He reiterated the IEA's view that oil markets are expected to tighten in the second half of the year. Speaking to reporters at a meeting of Group of 20 energy ministers in India, Barol said the revision of the demand forecast "is very much dependent on the growth of many countries in the second half, but mainly Chinese growth prospects". Asked if there was a case for a further reduction in demand projections, he said, "Yes, but there is also a possibility of revising up, so we will see how the Chinese economic prospects will look like. But in any case we see a tightening in the second half of the year."

NEW DELHI, July 22 (Reuters) - India has rejected Chinese automaker BYD Co's (002594.SZ) proposal to set up a $1 billion factory in India in partnership with Hyderabad-based Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd, the Economic Times reported on Saturday. Reuters reported this month that BYD had submitted a $1 billion investment proposal to build electric cars and batteries in India in partnership with a local company. Reuters could not independently verify the contents of The Economic Times' report. India's Department of Commerce, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) had sought opinions from other departments on the investment proposal, the report said. "Security concerns with respect to Chinese investments in India were flagged during the deliberations," the report quoted an Indian official as saying.
